Streets & Alleys
The storm sewer on Center/John/East St. project is near completion.
The committee met with the Fire District regarding the building and new street.
The Fire department needed to produce a drain plan before construction of the building can be started. They needed to add an additional 70 feet to the existing street and apply for EPA permits for storm water discharge.
Plans will also include a retention pond.
Main street parking is marked and ready to be striped.
WATER & SEWER
A retaining wall will need to be installed at the hydrant near Mat Diehl’s house. The board was notified that US Elevated Tanks and Tower Service should be here by the end of August for removal of the old water tower. Cost for removal will be approximately $4,900.00.
CEMETERY
The committee received a quote, to blacktop the cemetery road, from Civil for $22,546.00. The committee at this time will not recommend to resurface and will look at the road for next spring.
BUILDINGS AND GROUNDS
The truck transmission has been fixed.
Police
Coverage has been set for Homecoming weekend and parade. The committee has noted that there is a problem with 4-wheelers, golf carts and gators running on village streets. These utility vehicles are not street legal. After discussion it was determined that the board will not adopt an ordinance to allow the vehicles on the streets. Village officers will be notified to enforce as needed.
Liquor
Little Johns Tap will be having a beer garden for Homecoming weekend.
Old Business
The Village has had no response from the Park District regarding the maintenance bill sent to them for Lions Park. After discussion and review of options the board will go the next Park board meeting and request payment or request the deed title to Lion’s Park.
The board is looking at fountain options for Mill Pond to help move water and cut down the amount of weeds and algae. A floating fountain with no lights will run about $2,000.00. The committee will continue to look at options and bring them to the next meeting.
New Business
President Knoup has been notified that the Village will receive $25,000.00 in stimulus money for infrastructure within the village.
September meeting will be moved from Monday to Tuesday the 8th due to Labor Day holiday. TIF Joint review meeting will be held Tuesday at 4pm prior to our regular meeting.
